I don't know why, since I do pretty much everything on the computer, but when I want to write fic, I get more done if I do it in a note book rather than typing it out.

Of course, this means more work, since I'll eventually have to transcribe it to the computer (assuming I ever finish something) but whatever, it works for me. I think it's maybe because being on a computer provides too many distractions and I end doing things like updating my journal instead of writing :P

Still, I feel I was somewhat productive today, since I started off wanting to read an AI/Terminator cross over, to wanting to write one but having no idea what it'd be about, to a full plot line with the first scene written out.

I'm trying to keep things short, in the interest of actually finishing it (unlike my other Terminator cross over that I abandoned at 10K :( Maybe one day it'll be finished).

When I get stuck I like to write longhand. I definitely get the appeal.

I guess it just caught me by surprised since I'm unnaturally attached to my computer. However I do get urges to write at odd times, often when I'm not at my computer so that might be part of it.

I'm the same way with my books: writing the first draft down in a notebook before typing it up on the computer. I quite like that method, because when I do get around to typing it up, I find myself revising as I do, so when I "officially" start to edit it later via computer, my writing is far less horrific!

There is that. Although I find it frustrating sometimes when I can't correct things as I go, or move text around. I think it's more because I like to write on the go and a notebook is easier to cart around than a computer :)

I find that when I'm writing by hand, my subconscious seems to stream out more coherent things. You should get a tablet attachment for your computer (which is what I'm thinking of doing). Too bad they're so expensive!

Well, I definitely don't do enough writing to justify getting a tablet. And a notebook seems to be working well enough at the moment.

I think part of the reason why I like doing it on paper is because I'm so easily distracted that when I try to write on a computer I end up doing other things, responding to comments for example :P
